Osteoporosis diagnostics
Around 6 million people in Germany are affected by osteoporosis (“bone loss”). Among women, 18% already have osteoporosis by age 40. This is estimated to lead to 230,000 fractures each year.
When this disease is diagnosed early, improvement of bone density is very possible, for example with medication, and the disease can be kept from progressing.
Osteodensitometry (QCT), also known as bone density measurement, is a method for quantitatively determining the mineral salt content of the bone.
